Advent, Day 13: Each Second A Temple

(Day 13 of this year’s Advent series. Yesterday’s piece was about transmutation; today we consider the M.C. Escher structure of the second.) 

Each Second A Temple 

(I)
Dearly beloved,
If ever you wonder
At our Lord’s ways, 
Remember you this:
Each second
Is a temple – big enough
To hold all Creation.

 (II)
Each second a temple – 
No walls, windows, or doors – 
Yet the only space I have
In which to meet my Lord.
